Adenoiditis is inflammation or infection of the adenoids, located behind the nose. Common in children, it can cause nasal congestion, postnasal drip, cough, fever, and sore throat. Swollen adenoids can also block eustachian tubes, leading to ear infections. Treatment includes saline washes and antibiotics if bacterial. Chronic cases may require adenoidectomy to improve breathing and prevent infections.
