Mahesh H. Bhaya, M.D., is a board-certified otolaryngologist and head and neck surgeon with more than 40 years of experience, specializing in the medical and surgical treatment of conditions affecting the ear, nose, throat, and head and neck. He practices across multiple locations in Connecticut, including his primary office in Waterbury and additional sites in Southington and Southbury. Dr. Bhaya is dedicated to delivering comprehensive ENT care to patients of all ages, including endoscopic sinus surgery, microscopic ear surgery, thyroid and thyroid/parathyroid surgery, and surgical management of sleep apnea.

Dr. Bhaya received his medical training at the University of Bombay, India. He then completed his Otolaryngology training in Bombay, followed by a one-year fellowship at the International Hearing Foundation at the University of Minnesota. Committed to pursuing the highest level of specialty training, he completed his General Surgery internship and Otolaryngology/Head and Neck Surgery residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, in 2003. Dr. Bhaya is board-certified in Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery by the American Board of Otolaryngology, a certification he achieved in 2004 that reflects his mastery of both the medical and surgical knowledge required to deliver expert specialty care. He maintains active hospital affiliations with Saint Mary’s Hospital and Waterbury Hospital in Waterbury, CT, two of the region’s foremost medical centers, along with Waterbury Surgery Center.

Dr. Bhaya’s clinical interests span a range of sophisticated surgical disciplines within otolaryngology and head and neck surgery. In the realm of sinus care, he performs endoscopic sinus surgery using both minimally invasive techniques and advanced techniques, enabling precise treatment of chronic and recurrent sinus conditions with minimal disruption to surrounding tissue. His expertise in microscopic ear surgery enables him to address complex disorders of the middle and inner ear with exceptional accuracy, restoring function and relieving conditions that affect hearing and balance.

Dr. Bhaya also brings considerable skill to thyroid and parathyroid surgery, managing both benign and malignant diseases of these glands through careful, anatomy-focused operative technique.
